"I warned them not to concede two goals" - Former Sporting CP Gaffer

Nigeria Head Coach Jose Peseiro and Former Sporting CP Gaffer has confessed warning his players against conceding up to two goals In a match.

This is coming after Nigeria conceded twice in their friendly game against Mozambique on Monday 16th of October 2023.

“Last time, I told them that conceding two goals against any team is bad, but today, we did the same. We created many chances, almost 13 shots, one-on-one situations, but we didn’t utilise them.

“We had many opportunities, and for that, I am not happy because we did not put as much concentration as we did against Saudi Arabia. We should have scored up to eight goals. We couldn’t cross well, we didn’t capitalise on our corners. For this, I am sad,” the former Sporting CP gaffer stated after the game.

Although Nigeria won the game 3-2 Courtesy Terem Moffi, Frank Onyeka's wonderful strike and Moses Simon's Penalty kick all in the first half of the game.

This was Nigeria's first friendly match win since their 1-0 victory over Egypt in March 2019.

The Super Eagles had gone 15 consecutive friendly matches without a win, losing nine and picking up six draws before the Mozambique win.

Nigeria's next match is a World Cup qualifier game against Lesotho in November.
