I will talk when it is time-Peseiro

Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro has refused to deny reports in the local and Egyptian media linking him with the vacant Zamalek coaching job.

It has been suggested that the Portuguese football tactician is in talks with the leadership of Zamalek over succeeding Colombian coach Juan Carlos Osorio, who was dismissed following a poor run of results.

Ahmed Salem, the official spokesman for Zamalek, earlier dismissed speculation in the media that the club have completed an agreement with Peseiro in order to take over the managerial position at the five-time African champions, and what is being said in this regard is completely untrue.

However, it is confirmed that Peseiro has applied for the vacant Zamalek coaching job and his curriculum vitae was submitted to the Board of Directors.

Peseiro is not a stranger to Egyptian football, having coached Africa's most successful team Al Ahly during the 2015-2016 season.

The 63-year-old's job as Super Eagles coach is hanging by a thread after the national team began the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on a disappointing note, with back-to-back draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

When asked to respond to reports that linked him to entering into negotiations with Zamalek club at the present time, and being close to leaving the Super Eagles, Peseiro said to Elwatan Sport: "This is not the appropriate time to talk about all these matters."

He added: "I do not wish to make any comments at the present time, and I also refuse to talk about these matters specifically at this time, and I will respond at the time I deem appropriate for that."
