Super Falcons defender Drops Ultimate Reason She’s Absent From Olympics Qualifier

Addis Ababa , what could be noticed is the absence of some of the key players in the squad.

One of them is the Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre.

She has now opened up on why she couldn’t make the squad for the Olympic qualifier.

Ashleigh Plumptre was part of the Super Falcons squad at the 2023 FIFA women’s world cup tournament in Australia and New Zealand, where she helped Nigeria reach the Round of 16.

The former Leicester City Ladies defender, last summer joined Saudi Arabia outfit Al Ittihad ladies in a bid of seeking new adventures and challenges. And has since her arrival in the Middle-East, established herself as an important part of the team.

Fans had anticipated her inclusion in the Super Falcons squad for the 2024 Olympics qualifier, but when the list was finally released by the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, her name was missing. Some fans of the England youth international, had protested across social media platforms, seeking to know the reason behind her exclusion from the national team.

Why Ashleigh Plumptre is missing from Olympics qualifier squad ?

However, Plumptre in a post on her official Instagram handle, said she wanted to pay heed to her body; so she can be able to give her best whenever she’s called upon.

“Wishing my girls the best of luck in the upcoming Olympics qualifiers. I believe I must listen to my body in order to bring all of myself to this special team,” She said.

Further, she anticipated joining the Nigeria’s ladies in any of its upcoming outing.

“Always, proud to wear the Super Falcons Green, and I look forward to representing the colours again soon.”

Super Falcons will exchange tackles with Ethiopia in the return fixture in Nigeria on the 30th of October 2023.
